The VUCC Award has been added to LoTW

I read over at the LoTW site a few days ago that they are testing the VUCC implementation. It will be exciting to see how many grid squares I get confirmed on LoTW. My 6M LoTW return rate is 13,5%

Dec 22, 2010: VUCC Award Support Testing — VUCC support is being installed and tested. When this upgrade is implemented, amateurs can use LoTW to apply for awards based on Maidenhead grid squares, such as VUCC and the Fred Fish Memorial Award. As LoTW goes into testing mode for these changes, its ability to accept awards applications for DXCC and WAS has been temporarily suspended, but it will still process and accept uploads. LoTW's application function will be restored as soon as possible.

This is great news indeed and I hope more awards will be added. As more award are added, hopefully more users will join.

CQ WW 160M CW 2009 Diploma

A few weeks ago I got another diploma in the mail. This time it was for the CQ WW 160M CW contest in January this year. According to the diploma, I won my class in LA.

WPX RTTY 2009 diploma

Last week I got an A4 sized envelope in the mail. It contained a diploma from the World Wide RTTY WPX Contest 2009. I was quite surprised, as I never expected any diploma. Turns out, I won my category in LA. I just participated a few hours and worked 150 contacts. I was originally planning on just sending a checklog, but forgot and submitted the log as a regular log. I think that is my first diploma for my own call.

CQ DX Awards now accepting eqsl.cc confirmations

I just read that CQ Magazine is now accepting eQSL confirmations for award credit. Seems like digital confirmations are getting more and more popular. I have not registered on eQSL myself, and I'm not sure if I'll ever do. Only future will tell.

There is a catch with this whole thing. Only confirmations from "Authenticity Guaranteed" members of eQSL will be accepted, and in accordance with existing eQSL policy, a membership level of bronze or higher is required in order to participate in award programs via eQSL. You will also need to print out a list of confirmations and submit them to an award manager or bring it to a CQ checkpoint. I hope this will be improved to the point that you can apply for the award digitally online.

NEW! The Triple Play WAS

I happened to surf by the ARRL awards and noticed a new LoTW only WAS award. It will be made available next year, and can only be applied via LoTW with contacs made after 0000Z January 1, 2009. In short terms, it means that you must have contacts with each of the 50 states on voice, CW and digimodes. All bands (except 60M) can be used.

IARU Worked All Continents Certificate New Design

I just read over at the ARRL DXCC Blog that the WAC (Worked All Continents) certificates are redesigned. One of the interesting things mentioned, are that LoTW will support the WAC award in a future upgrade. I have never applied for any certificates yet, even though I'm qualified for several different ones. Maybe in the future.
