V73NS #302 on LoTW

The other day I got a confirmation I didn't really expect, so it was a pleasant surprise. V73NS uploaded his log to LoTW and gave me #302 on LoTW. I have only 3 different stations from V7, so it's quite rare for me.

Only a few contacts worked here since last time.

April 14th I worked EJ0PL on 40M SSB from EU103. That was a new iota for me and the log has been uploaded to LoTW.

April 18th gave me a new one on CW with 3D2R on 20M CW. I missed the expedition last year, so it was nice to catch this one. This one is also quite rare for me, and the last one from Rotuma was back in 1998.

On April 21st, I worked TM1F on 40M SSB from EU095. That was a new iota as well.

On April 22nd I worked 9M0L on 40M CW. They had a nice pile-up, but I managed to work them quite easy.

Time flies again. Well, I have worked a little bit since last time I wrote a post. JW8HGA was active again for a few days, so I worked him on 40M and 30M in late March. I worked 10 qsoes in the WPX ssb contest.

March 25th I worked YB8Y on 17M CW from iota OC221. That was a new iota for me.

E51M was worked on 17M CW for a new one on 17M. DU1IST was worked on 12M CW for a new one on 12M and XW3DT was worked on 10M CW for a new one on 10M, all these on March 31st.

Aprild 2nd E51M was worked on 30M RTTY on April 2nd for a new one on RTTY. 7P8PB was worked on 12M CW for a new one on 12M. 9M2/R6AF/P in AS097 was worked on 17M CW for a new iota. 9J2RI was worked on 17M CW and I got it confirmed on LoTW a few days ago for #301 on LoTW. DJ6OI/P in EU042 was worked on 30M CW for a new iota. The last interesting qso that day was with Z32AJA on 40M CW. I have only worked F6AJA and LA9AJA before with the same suffix.

E51M was worked on 20M CW April 3rd.

SU9VB was worked on 40M RTTY on April 4th and 8R1PY was worked on 30M RTTY on April 6th for a new one on 30M

Wow, it's been over a month since my last post. Well, only a handful of contacts to report about.

FW0NAR was worked on February 6th for a new one on 30M. 3C6A was worked on February 24th for a new one on 30M. PJ7PT was worked on March 7th for a new one on 30M. ZD7XF was also worked on 30M that same day. 3C0E was worked on 10M CW on March 11th only a very short time before they went qrt. That was a new one on 10M.

I just read yesterday that an expedition to ZS8 Marion Island is being planned in early 2014. As I need this one for an all-time new, I cross my fingers for a successful expedition.

Finally got around to play some radio this year. First QSO in 2012 was HK0NA on 12M CW January 26st. That was a new one on CW for me followed by 4W0VB on 30M CW. Yet another new one on CW. They don't come by too often these days with 323 on CW. Two days later on January 28th, I worked VP6T on 40M CW for a new one on 40M. I also managed to work HK0NA on 40M/30M/20M/17M/15M CW, 10M SSB and 40M RTTY. PS5F was worked on 10M CW from SA-088 on Saturday, February 4th. That was a new IOTA for me.

#300 on Logbook of The World :)

Early this year I finally reached one of my goals of 300 LoTW only confirmations. #299 was with E51MAN from North Cook, and came in late December. A few days ago in January, #300 was finally confirmed with OA1F.

As postage has yet again risen here in Norway, direct qsling is almost way too expensive to continue. I do answer the cards I get and I do send a few of my own, but nothing like I used to several years back. I do have several thousands of cards in boxes in the closet, both for LA8AJA and JW8AJA. Rarely do I ever take them out and look at them, and I don't think I've bothered showing them to any of my friends the last 5 years or so. I have never applied for any award. As more and more people join Logbook of The World, I just hope more awards will be added to make it even more popular. Time will tell.

My next posts will show LoTW stats for both my calls.

DX Soundclips in December 2011

Wow, it has been one year with monthly posted soundclips. I don't think I'll bother this year. I don't record, or for that matter, work as much radio as I used to. Hope those of you that has been listening my soundclips has enjoyed them. Only one soundclip recorded in December, and that has been my only contact during that month. As always, enjoy.

LA8AJA 6M aurora soundclips from G3TCT and LZ2STO

While searching for my own callsign on Google, I came across a few soundclips of myself that I hadn't heard before. The one from LZ2STO is quite interesting. In that opening, I worked 4 x YU stations on aurora. It was not aurora all the way, it was an ES to aurora link active at that time.

The second one made by G3TCT, was from one of the best aurora openings I've experienced on 6M.

#298 on LoTW with YK9A

What a nice surprise today. I got YK9A confirmed on LoTW. The contact was made back in 2001 on 20M RTTY. That makes #298 on LoTW only. Other nice confirmations has been EL2A on 10/15/20 CW, ZF2OE 12M RTTY, VP2MWG 15M CW, T32C contacts has started to show up, HQ5X 10M CW, ZK1EFD 17M CW South Cook from 2001 and lots of other contacts both LA8AJA and JW8AJA. I'll do another LoTW stats for both calls early next year.

#297 on LoTW with SU9VB

As I wrote in my last post, I worked SU9VB on 30M. I got him confirmed on LoTW yesterday for #297 on LoTW. I've only worked 2 contacts since my last post. OH5LID was on yet another trip. This time it was in NAC 6M and I worked him from KP40 for a new grid on 6M. E51MAN Bill from North Cook, was worked on 30M CW for a new one on 30M. Hopefully Bill will upload his log to LoTW to give me a new one there.
