Recently I've gotten several new ones on LoTW. My goal of 300 is getting closer and closer. I've gotten a few surprises that I didn't expect. Last year I worked XX9TLX and last week I got my contacts on LoTW. Yesterday I got V85/9M6XRO. That wasn't really a surprise, since all the past years 9M6XRO activations has been uploaded to LoTW so far. Today I got another nice surprise with V31JP for #280 on LoTW. That was from a contact back in 1999. I have several V3 stations, but it seems I've always missed the ones that use LoTW.

Now for some dx worked the last week.

March 28th gave me the following stations:

VP5/W5CW on 15M CW, my 5th band

9N7AN on 30M CW, or so I thought. I'm not in the log.

PJ4/W9NJY was worked on 17M CW for a new one on 17M.

YN2ET was worked on 17M SSB for a new one on SSB.

OX3XR was worked on 17M CW for our 6th band.

HR5/F2JD was worked on 17M CW

YN2ER was worked on 15M CW

J39BS was worked on 15M CW

March 29nd I worked these stations:

VO2NS 15M CW

VP5/W5CW 12M CW, my 6th band

PJ4/W9NJY 15M CW, new on 15M

March 30th:

D2AM 17M SSB

CU7MD 17M SSB LoTW user

KD4POJ 17M CW Dwayne in ND

March 31st:

WY7LL 15M SSB Leo in WY, LoTW user

9N7AN 30M CW again

April 1st:

A65BR 12M RTTY new on 12M

9N7AN 17M CW and both my 9N qsoes are in the log

JW/F8DVD 40M CW some flutter, but nice signal

April 4th:

P29VCX 30M CW OC-101, new IOTA for me

KD4POJ 17M RTTY New RTTY state, 6 more to go on RTTY

TK1CX 17M RTTY LoTW user

Conditions has been quite good lately and the higher bands has been open late in the evening. Some of the other confirmations I've gotten on LoTW are KD4POJ, J39BS, PJ4/W9NJY, WY7LL, TK1CX, OX3XR and HR5/F2JD.

Band conditions are really picking up, and several expeditions are on for the time being.

March 20th gave me VU4PB on 17M CW, S21YZ on 30M RTTY (#211 RTTY) and OX3XR on 30M CW. I probably duped S21YZ. I noticed my call being sent, but never got the report or the confirmation of the contact. Someone had to make qrm on top of the signal, so I managed to work him for sure 20 minutes later.

March 22nd gave me FP/W6HGF on 30M RTTY (#212 RTTY), and the contact is confirmed on LoTW.

March 26th gave me RI1FJ on 17M RTTY (#213 RTTY). He had a nice and strong signal. He was on 30M the night before, but I couldn't decode him. Another station that had a nice and strong signal was V85/9M6XRO on 20M RTTY. I had to wait maybe 45 minutes to get him. He was only working NA. You can say I was frustrated about such a strong signal and not be able to work him. Too many times in the past, the path dies out before the stations starts to work EU. Luckily this time this wasn't the case. Thanks John for my third new RTTY country. The previous ones were 7P and 9M6.

March 27th was quite good on 12M CW. BA7LO was worked with a nice and strong signal. VR2UW also had a nice signal. 9M2MRS and 5X1NH were worked for 2 new ones on 12M. The last station worked on 12M was YB0AKM. I tried to get FY5LH and HP1/IZ6BRN on 12M RTTY, but the signals weren't too strong and I couldn't get through. That would have been two new on LoTW.

A few expeditions came on the air after the excellent ZL8X show. 9Q and VK9N are two that has been very active since they came on. I only have a few stations worked from either location. On December 11th I worked 9Q50ON on 40M RTTY (New 40M and RTTY), 30M RTTY (New 30M) and 30M CW. I also worked VK9NN on 40M CW (new 40M) and 30M CW 4 minutes later. I worked OA4TT on 17M CW. A92IO was worked on 15M CW (new 15M). Thanks to both the 9Q and the VK9N team for their expeditions.

Sometimes you also seems to miss an "easy" one on different bands. GI is one of those I've been missing on 30M. On December 12th MI0SRR David was spotted on 30M CW. I gave him a call and got him for a new one on 30M.

I noticed there were several contests this weekend. Among them were SAC SSB, but as I wrote before, I'm not very fond of SSB contests. Makrothen RTTY contest was also on, so I decided to set up and run a few contacts. This contest was run in periods and the exchange was only your digit locator square. The points were calculated from the distance to the other station worked. Totally I worked 177 qsoes in this one. Only thing new was Z2/AC7GP who called me on 15M for #204 on RTTY.

On Friday, I worked TO7ZG in St. Barthelemy on 30M RTTY. That was both a new on 30M (#267) and RTTY (#203). I also worked DT8A South-Shetland on 30M CW. It was nothing new, but it is a semi-rare dx. Last time I worked South-Shetland was back in 2000.

On Saturday, I managed to work J28AA on 15M CW (#228 15M). LA6Q in EU061 was worked on 17M CW.

Sunday morning was time for the new PJ-stations. I managed to work PJ4D and PJ6A on 40M CW. I tried several of the others, but I couldn't get through to them. VQ9LA was worked on 12M CW with a good signal. OX3XR was worked on 15M CW for a new one on 15M (#229).

PJ7E was worked on 17M CW on Monday. I did try PJ2T on 15M CW and PJ5/K1XM on 12M CW, but I could not break the pile-up.

LoTW and the logsearch has been updated with the latest qsoes.

The SSB part of the Scandinavian Activity Contest was moved this year. Hopefully this will bring more activity to the SSB part of SAC. The previous years it has collided with CQWW RTTY. As I'm not a big fan of SSB contests, my choice would have been the RTTY contest, collision or not. As I have done in the past, I usually join a contest for fun and to try to work some new stuff. I didn't get to run as many hours as I had planned, but I managed to squeeze in a few hours and worked 351 qsoes. Too bad I missed the stateside openings on 40M, but I needed the sleep this weekend. I did however work several new states on RTTY. I managed to work OR, SC, VW and WY for a total of 44 states on RTTY.

As WY is one of 2 missing LoTW states, I was very lucky to work WY7SS. WY7SS uploaded the log to LoTW on Monday. That means only ND to go.

I also got 2 new RTTY DXCC's wih VP9I and SU/HA3JB. That brings my RTTY total to 202.

I seem to have missed one state worked on RTTY as N2WN is in TN and uploaded his log to LoTW. That means I have 40 states on RTTY now, only 10 to go. I'll see if I can join in a few hours in CQ WW RTTY this coming weekend. Who knows, maybe I'll work something new.

As for LoTW WAS, W7MEM (in Idaho) uploaded his log and gave me state #48. Only ND and WY to go.

I noticed another RTTY contest coming up this weekend. After working SCC And SARTG, 100 RTTY DXCC's on LoTW was reached. I still had several states left to go, so I thought why not.

Early Saturday morning, I couldn't fall back to sleep, so I decided to go on 40M and start running. The first station was W7MRC in WA with a nice signal. Conditions had to be pretty good. I continued running and 4L, UN, YV, VE, PY, EA8 and plenty of W stations called in. I also got HI3TEJ with a nice signal.

I went to 20M after 40M didn't bring much. The second call was AL9A in Alaska. I only have one other station from Alaska on RTTY, so this was a nice surprise. I continued running for several hours with mostly Europeans calling in, with a few DX stations like YV, VE, VK, JA and plenty of W's.

I never bothered with 15M and ended the contest on 40M. Signals from stateside were quite strong at the end of the contest, so it was a pity the contest was over.

All in all, I worked GA and KS for two new RTTY states which makes my total 39. Totally I worked a few over 300 qsoes in this one. I wonder how many I could have worked if I had worked the full 24 hours. As always, I'm just a casual contester and doing this for fun.

The past weekend I noticed that Kansas QSO Party was on. Since Kansas was my last state on CW, and one of the missing ones on LoTW, I watched the cluster closely. I noticed several stations spotted, but I just couldn't hear anyone of them. Finally a spot on 20M CW with K0VXU who was calling CQ KSQP. I managed to work him for my last CW state. Today I noticed he had uploaded his log on LoTW, so only 3 LoTW states to go with Idaho, North Dakota and Wyoming.

SCC RTTY Contest was also this weekend. I decided to set up N1MMLogger and have a go at a few contacts. I still needed a few for RTTY LoTW DXCC. The exchange in this one was RST and the year when you first got your licence. I got off to a pretty good run until I station gave me 1982 as a report. N1MM didn't like this at all and would not log it. I ended up logging another year, then edited the qso manually. I didn't connect it at all until my second 1982 station. I was now prepared, so I managed to log that one as well. Then I suddenly got strange crashes, and I got another bug. If I tried to log a dupe or log a station on a second band, N1MM crashed. Luckily, a fix was quickly sent out on the reflector, and it worked out ok. I worked about 200 qsoes in this one. Nothing new, except state 37 with Alabama.

On LoTW I got #100 on RTTY with GW confirmed.

I noticed this weekend that it was time for the SARTG RTTY contest. I thought I would listen in a little bit to look for some new RTTY DXCC's. On Sunday, I set up N1MM Logger and started listening. 9M6XRO was spotted on 15M. John uses LoTW and I still need a few to get 100 on LoTW RTTY. I called him and after a few minutes, I managed to work him for #197 on RTTY and #226 on 15M. E21YDP followed shortly on 15M for #198 on RTTY. The last new one on RTTY was VQ9LA on 15M RTTY about an hour later. I started calling a bit myself and managed to work about 170 contacts. I got the best run on 20M, and had callers for a couple of hours before I quit. I had several JA stations calling in, and also several USA stations. 9M6XRO and E21YDP called in on 20M for our second band. Among other nice ones were calls from HL, W7 and VE7, and finally I managed 4 new states with DE, KY, VT and WA.

I uploaded the log to LoTW on Sunday evening, and I have gotten plenty of confirmations. I'm just 2 away from LoTW RTTY DXCC. I guess those will come quickly, since I know I worked LoTW users that haven't uploaded the log yet.

Radio activity has picked up. I got TL0A on 17M RTTY (#192 RTTY), 20M RTTY and 30M RTTY. That was a new mode and 3 new bandpoints. GM6VXB in IO97 was worked for a new grid on 6M. KH7Y was worked on 6M eme for #122 on 6M. ST2AR was worked for #123 on 6M. I finally got TN5SN in the log, though only on 30M. I hope I'll log him on 6M soon. F/ON6ID/M in JN33 was worked for a new grid on 6M. Now I have the grid, but still need 3A. Why should that one be so difficult. The last week has been good for 6M. We have had good openings every day since Sunday at least. I haven't worked that much though, most of the stuff has been worked. I spend a lot of time listening. SV5/LZ1WL in KM36 was a new 6M grid. SV1NZX in KM17 was another new grid. SV2KBB in KN10, Z30U in KN11 and TF1JI in IP03 were all new grids. Finally I got A92GR in LL56 for #124 on 6M. Among the other stations I have worked the past week are SV9CVY, SU1SK and CU3EQ. I could have worked several hundred contacts if I wanted to. Total new grid count is now 585 on 6M. Now I'm waiting for an opening to get the current E4X expedition in the log.
