Soundclips of JW8AJA

Posted: March 2nd, 2009 under Dxpedition, Hamradio, Soundclips.

front.jpg While searching google to see if something interesting popped up on my JW8AJA callsign, I came across 2 soundclips of me. One is from 2002 on 17M CW. I was operating with a paddle and a keyer and writing paperlogs back then. The second is from my second trip to JW in 2006. This time on 40M CW and with pc-keying.

Listen to them here:

K5D went qrt with 115,728 qso’es in the log

Posted: February 27th, 2009 under DX, Dxpedition, Hamradio.

Yesterday, K5D went qrt with 115,728 qso’es in the log. Guess that will take care of Desecheo Island on the most wanted list for a while. I managed 4 qso’es with them, and I’m happy with that. More bands are always welcome, but that’s not always possible. The goal was to get them in the log.

They have also opened their Online QSL Request System (OQRS), which can be found here

You can request your K5D QSL one of four ways:

  • OQRS DIRECT
  • OQRS BUREAU
  • DIRECT MAIL WITH 44¢ SASE/$$$/IRC(S)
  • VIA NORMAL INCOMING BUREAU

Now on the the next one…

J5UAP and K5D on RTTY, ET3JA on 30M

Posted: February 25th, 2009 under Contesting, DX, Hamradio, LoTW, RTTY, Soundclips.

j5.jpg I Worked 2 new ones on RTTY. On Friday, I got J5UAP on 40M RTTY and on Saturday I got K5D on 30M RTTY. That brings my RTTY total to 179. J5UAP was also new on 40M (#229). I worked about 50 QSO’es in the ARRL contest this weekend, which gave me 2 new states on 40M. I worked Alabama and Nevada, total now is #37. On Monday I got ET3JA on 30M (#240) CW. He had a solid signal here and was easily worked. Conditions were good south-west and VQ9RD  was worked on 40M with a solid signal. VQ9JC Jim, was worked on 30M for a second band. 3B8CF was also heard CQ’ing on 30M, but I have worked him before.

Soundclips:

  • ET3JA 30M CW – #240 on 30M, strong signal, qsl to OK3AA according to qrz.com
  • VQ9RD 40M CW – LoTW user, strong signal
  • VQ9JC 30M CW – Jim, via ND9M, strong signal, second band

Log is updated on LoTW. I got one new with ER0FEO, that makes 214.

My new qslcard has arrived

Posted: February 21st, 2009 under Hamradio.

Finally. It’s here. I’ve been planning this card for a long time. I have always wanted a picturecard, and finally with help from several friends, it has now become a reality. The picturecard will be used for direct cards. The other card will be used for bureau cards. There are 6 people who are waiting for my direct card, and they have waited for a while. I am very sorry for the delay, but I hope it is worth the wait.

The printer I chose to use, was UX5UO print. Take a look here if you are planning to print some cards yourself. Gennady was very helpful in every step of the way. Thank you Gennady. Take a look at my new card below.

Do you like the card?
